The Adventure Begins....Take Two

So somehow Leah deleted the second post on the blog. Nice going. However, she found it on her phone and is going to try to recreate it! We think the first paragraph is missing, but you'll get the idea. Anyways....here's the second post from our blog, take two:

The Family!
(The beginning is the part she lost forever...) We all met in the airport around 10am with family and a few coworkers. It was nice that everyone came to see us off. Leah almost lost it as soon as we pulled up to the airport. She did pretty well from that point on. It was great Ross was joining us in Baltimore for the night. Charlotte was more preoccupied with trying to squeeze $8 out of mom for a book than realizing mom was leaving for 6 months, but maybe that's a good thing. Charlotte and Mia were also having a nice time together as always. After about 30 minutes of chit chat it was time for us to head through security. We didn't have TSA precheck for some reason, so it took us 3 minutes to go through security instead of 2. Everytime we travel we realize how great the Milwaukee airport really is!

(OK- Now for the word for word of the original post...)
After a short 90 min flight, we landed in Baltimore. There was a free hotel shuttle for us to take. The guy loaded up our bags, along with one other couple, and started to drive off without us! Luckily, the other guy banged on the door before he got too far. We loaded up and made the short trip over to the hotel. After relaxing for a short bit, we hailed an Uber and headed downtown.

What's the first thing you do when you get to a new city? An escape room of course! We went to Baltimaze Escape Room and did the Ex Machina room. We had three other people with us. One of them was Army and one was Air Force, both Intel at the NSA. The third was the dad of the Air Force woman. It was their first escape room. The room was fun and of course we escaped! 43:59! We rocked it. There were lots of cool electronic puzzles along with standard locks to figure out. We all enjoyed it quite a bit.

After that we decided it was time for dinner. Seems like crab cakes are the thing to do around here, but since we think crab legs belong on crabs, we went for some Afghan food instead. We stopped at a place called The Kabul. It was super tasty! Falafel, hummus, spice rice, bolani, YUM! It was similar to Indian food, so of course we loved it. In the middle of dinner some seemingly homeless guy came wandering in and asked us to buy him a meatball sandwich. It was really odd and we turned him down. I don't even think they served meatballs at The Kabul.

After dinner we went to an Irish bar, Tir Na Nog for a beverage. Guiness for Ross, Magner's Cider for Leah. We sat outside on an upper balcony and did some people watching. We were looking out on Inner Harbor. There were a few tall ships docked there that people could take tours of. There was also a little open area where people were dancing to tunes such as "The Cupid Shuffle" and "The Wobble." There was also some dude playing some kind of horn and he was playing jazz renditions of 90s jams like "Poison" and "This is How We Do It."

Baltimore is quite an interesting city. It was such a mix of people in all the same place. Fun for people watching for sure. We wandered down to the water's edge, post drink. Ross wanted to dunk a frond into the water, but Leah said no. The water looked pretty gross. Phew! Frond saved! We had to make a quick stop at a nearby CVS because someone forgot their toothbrush again... *cough*Ross*cough*.... He seems to be turning this into a habit. ;) Once the toothbrush was acquired, we hailed an Uber and headed back to the hotel. We had quite the driver! Somehow we got his life story of how he came from Greece to the US and how we was Greek Special Forces Back in the day. Made the ride back amusing!

Cheers to a Successful Trip
The next morning we managed to sleep in. Ahhh! So relaxing! We decided to grab brunch at the Bob Evans next door. There was quite the gathering of people waiting. The hostess said 15-20 minutes for a wait, so we stayed....40 min later we were seated. After our meal we decided just to head back to the hotel and chill instead of head back downtown. Not enough time to make it worth it. We'll head to the airport in a few hours to say our final goodbyes and part ways for a few months....*tear*sniffle*. See you on the flip side!
