First Month and First Snow!

It's been just over a month since we've arrived here in Germany. Overall it has gone by fairly fast. Some days are quick, some are slow. But that's like that anywhere, I suppose. We've settled into a good schedule here. Work Mon - Friday (plus an occasional Saturday or Sunday), running after work, laundry on Tuesday (since no one else does laundry on Tuesdays!), Commissary and BX trips on the weekends to stock up on whatever we need, and the most important, video chats with Ross around his lunch time, and weekend chats with Charlotte and Leah's Mom & Dad.

Work for Leah is going well. One of the main tasks she does is create documents so people can buy all sorts of things they need down in Africa. It's helping build up bases and keep them running. She also gets roped into random projects like helping someone get scheduled for a class and figuring out which work cell phones belong to who. Random tasks help fill in the downtime, so it's a welcome thing.

Running has also been a good use of time too. Leah's on week 3 of 20 for her marathon plan and for now, is right on track. Today was the first day she had to run inside. It's a gloomy, rainy day which isn't ideal for an outdoor run. Hopefully the rain lets up tomorrow. 8 miles on a treadmill does not sound like fun!

Aside from work and running, we've found a few other ways to spend our time. We binged watched Stranger Things and highly recommend it! It's so good (except for that one episode. You know what I mean if you've seen it)! Leah's having fun trying to use her slow cooker in as many ways as possible. She's managed a few soups, rice, steamed veggies, and sloppy joes. She'll be trying a tofu scramble and Aloo Gobi this weekend. Yum! The latest project she took on has been some crochet. She made a scarf and Santa hat over the past few days. The folks in the office are already starting to get into the Christmas spirit, so she made the hat to share in the office. Fun stuff! She has a bunch of other yarn for a few other projects to work on in the next few weeks. She wants to make a mermaid tail blanket for Charlotte for Christmas. Hopefully she can get it done in time!

Instead of having a countdown to when we're coming home, we're counting down the days until Ross arrives! His tickets are booked and we're anxiously awaiting his arrival. Even though it's over a month away, we're still extremely excited. Leah and Ross have been starting to plan what we're going to do while he's here. There's not a lot set in stone, but there will be a Christmas market and probably Switzerland! The blog will get a lot more interesting once he arrives!

Update! Mother nature must have been wanting us to enjoy snow just like everyone back home! Leah was going to head to the gym for an 8 mile run this morning since it was raining pretty good, but she waited it out for a few hours. When she opened the curtains it was snowing!! So of course that meant outdoor run! Yay! It was a fairly slushy run and it stopped snowing a few miles into the run, but it was fun and much better than a treadmill or running in the rain. I guess Winter is here.
First Snow in Germany!

Until then, we'll keep plugging away and counting down the days! We miss you all!

  1. What a cute hat! ...as well as the model wearing it! ...You might ask Leah to make one sized for you.
No snow here (FL)... left as the tiny flakes were arriving (Good timing).
Tell Leah to keep posting... it sure brings a smile here! ...and... Please tell her Happy Veterans Day for me and thank her, and all the troops, for their service!
Love you both! (Ross too, of course)... 5 months and counting (7 for me).
