Hawaii Day 7 - Beach Day
Today was our final full day in Hawaii. We had planned to go to the Dole Plantation to revisit where the pineapple collection started. We had looked at bus routes before and from what we could remember it would take about an hour to get there. But when we checked this morning, it was a 2 hour ride. Neither of us wanted to spend 4 hours of our last full day in Hawaii on a bus, nor did we want to spend $90 on an Uber, so we decided to skip it.
The day turned into a chill beach/rest day instead. We wandered all the way down to the Hale Koa shopping area for a little while and I revisited a shop that had some earrings I liked, but still no sale for me. We sat on the beach for a little while people watching and then walked back to our room. We ended up taking a mid-day nap, which was refreshing. Then it was back to the beach for a little while.
I knowingly didn’t reapply any sunscreens and will be paying the price. My legs are a bit red, but not as bad as I expected them to be. I brought my crossword book with this time and Ross was listening to some music. I took a stroll down the shore for a little, getting my feet in the water. The beach was at quite an angle and the sand is very coarse, so it wasn’t the easiest walk, but I still enjoyed it.
After my short walk, I sat back down, partly in the shade and started looking for a dinner spot. Trying to find a place with an open table for dinner when you start your search at 4pm on a Saturday night, on Waikiki beach is not ideal. Lucky for us, the restaurant just down the street from our hotel had a 5:15 opening. We booked that right away and headed back to the room to change for dinner.
We walked the 2 minutes down the street to Tiki’s for dinner. We got a great table looking out at the ocean from the third floor open air dining area. Such a great view!
We ordered the Vegan Pesto Rigatoni and a Layered beet and Boursin cheese “salad”. Not sure why they called it a salad. It looked more like jello molds. I don’t like beets, but it was actually quite good. The cheese helped a lot! The pasta was excellent as well. One of the best meals of the trip. We even finished it out with a 20 layer crepe dish. It had a delicious coconut filling that went well with the little pineapple and strawberry pieces. Dessert two days in a row?! Who even are we?
After dinner we needed a little walk, so we watched the sunset on the beach and did some window shopping. We walked into one store I had gone into earlier, just in a different location, to look at the dresses. They were a little pricey for me, but very pretty and very Hawaiian. I still have time to think about them before we head home.
After a little more walking and window shopping, we headed back to the room for an early night. It was an easy day, which was great.

We head home tomorrow, but our flight doesn’t leave until 8:30pm, so we have a little more time left in Hawaii!
